Ilaria is a writer and director with a slate of original projects in various stages of development.

Ilaria has an M.A. in Film Screenwriting (Distinction) and BA/Hons in Theatre Studies, both from Royal Holloway College – University of London. She has completed the Feature Film Workshop at the National Film and Television School.

Between 2009 and 2012 she was a Story Analyst for Focus Features International, reporting to Vice President of International Production Clare Wise, since 2012 she has been a Story Analyst for Universal Pictures International and for other UK-based independent producers.

Her TV drama ‘Dragon Ladies‘ (6×60′)  has been optioned by Lime Pictures (All3Media).

Her original screenplay ‘Lily and Her Sisters’ won her a David Lean Screenwriting Award – a true story set in war-torn Northern Italy during WWII. The judges (executives from Film4, BFI and literary agents) were impressed with the script, explaining that it portrayed a truly cinematic vision written with depth and warmth of character. The script also reached the semi-finals in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest in 2011.

She has directed three short films and ‘Another Thing’, her second short, won the KODAK AWARD and the ITALIAN FILM EDITORS ASSOCIATION AWARD at the Arcipelago International Film Festival in Rome. It was also in competition at the Salento International Film Festival, at the Seattle 1Reel Film Festival (Women in Film) organised by the Seattle International Film Festival, at the HDFEST in New York as well as at the Canterbury Film Festival in New Zealand.

‘OLGA?’, Ilaria’s third short, stars Amelia Warner and Rula Lenska. The script for ‘OLGA? was in the official selection at the GIAA Film Festival in New York, it was in the judge’s selection at the Las Vegas Short Script Competition and was shortlisted at the Golden Brad Awards in LA. The film was in the official selection at the  Arcipelago International Film Festival in Rome. Olga was also selected in the Sguardi Sconfinati section at the  Sguardi Altrove International Film Festival in Milan.

Her collaboration with musician Rakafeed produced the stunning underwater music video ‘Colder’.  It was filmed at Pinewood Underwater stage and starred ballet dancer Matthew Koon. The 5min piece won the Golden Reel Award for Best Music Video at the Tiburon International Film Festival in San Francisco and was awarded an Honorable Mention at the Los Angeles Movie Awards. It was also in the official selection for Best European music video at the ECU European Film Festival in Paris. It travelled to the International Festival of Music Videos in Barcelona and at the Kabelvag Kunsfilmfestival in Norway.

‘Do U Eat Meat?’ won Best Short Screenplay Award at the Los Angeles Comedy Festival.

She’s just finished writing a rom-com and has moved on to adapt ‘All the Planes fly to Rio’, her play which was awarded a commendation at the Varity Bargate Awards.
